Buy good brands in local markets and bring value to the table by creating infrastructure to accelerate and support organic growth and providing capital to do acquisitions,” explains Owen Tharrington, principal of private equity firm Gridiron. Take Your Dog to Work Day raises money for local shelter
June 29, 2011
By Jacque Estes

Bill Dellecker, president of Austin Outdoor, says it was partially Jennifer Zuberer’s persistence that made the company’s participation in Friday’s Take Your Dog to Work Day a reality.
“She was so persistent about it, how could I refuse?” he said. “This was Jennifer’s idea, her passion and her and other employees involvement with the Flagler Humane Society.”
He also said several members of his staff spend their lunchtimes walking dogs at the shelter.
The national annual event is a fundraiser for humane societies and animal shelters across the country. Employees donate $10 or more for each dog they bring to work. Read the rest of this entry »

The Austin Outdoor internship program not only provides students with technical skills necessary to do well in the field, but it also offers business knowledge, which is required in order to be successful in the landscape industry. Students are equipped with the scientific aspects of horticulture and the landscape industry when they come to us, but they have minimal knowledge of the management and financial aspect of the business. The Austin Outdoor program strives to provide a healthy mix of both.
We expose interns to all aspects of the company so they become successful very quickly. Eddy’s experiences so far include production planning, purchasing of equipment and materials, safety inspections, equipment maintenance, equipment operations, and site inspections. Also included are exposure to the sales and estimating process from physically measuring a property, to entering the measurements into our estimating model, to participating in the production review and final proposal process. It is essential to his learning process to understand how to evaluate and estimate a project, budget the necessary labor and materials for that project, and essentially perform the project to specifications.
Embracing these tasks with a positive attitude, Eddy is a pleasure to have on our team. He brings new ideas and a fresh perspective. His desire to learn something new each and every day is contagious with many of our crew members displaying a new-found sense of motivation. His contributions to the West Palm Beach District are certainly positive for our entire team.
